Hello, Dear Readers. Happy New Year! I hope 2024 will bring you blessings, health, and memorable moments. Today, I’m excited to announce a new venture, but first I’ll give you a little background.
From the age of ten, I knew I wanted to be a writer. I scribbled stories on pieces of notebook paper and my imagination seemed to have no limit. At the age of seventeen, I wrote a complete YA novel. I didn’t have a clue about what I was doing, but I recall the book having the necessary elements, including a character arc.
After high school and entering the workforce, I put aside writing, but the desire was always there. Finally, when I was in my late forties, I decided to do something about it. I began taking online classes to learn the ins and outs of the craft. Writing fiction has always been my desire, but I didn’t limit myself to that genre.
One day, while serving as a greeter in church, I struck up a conversation with a woman who eventually became my best friend. She was a writer and had published several articles on our church’s women’s blog. I mentioned that I like to write and had penned a few devotionals. She asked me to send one and the next thing I knew, she published my devotional, with only a few minor edits on the church blog.
A writer was born! I went on to have devotionals published on various online sites as well as having some accepted for publication in a monthly devotional magazine. I began a blog, Reflections of His Grace, where I posted regularly.
But writing fiction was never far from my mind, and I began to move away from writing devotionals and focused on my dream. Now, after publishing eight books (with a ninth planned for the spring), I began to feel a pull to go back to inspirational writing.
Today, I’d like to share some exciting news! I, along with Mae Clair and Staci Troilo, have started a brand-new website.
Pastore Publishing is a place to share devotionals, reviews of Christian books (both fiction and non-fiction), films, websites, and apps. We’ll also share inspiring words and stories about Christian leaders throughout the ages. Pastore is the Italian name for shepherd.
I will be posting there under the pen name, Rachel Carroll. It’s not that I’m ashamed to share my faith here or under my name, but I wanted to keep my fiction writing separate from any faith-based writing. Staci is writing under the name Christina Amery and Mae under the name Wrenn Leone.
I will continue to post here, as well as Story Empire and The Well Read Fish. Also, I don’t plan to give up writing fiction.
